Because of the plethora (thanks to The Three Amigos for introducing that word into my lexicon) of snow in the area, many high school regional games have been pushed back to today. It has been a major inconvenience for tournament organizers, players, and coaches, but if you love Kentucky high school basketball the way I do, it has turned into a blessing for the fan. A couple of highlights:
In Region 4 girls action, Allen County-Scottsville led by UK signee Morgan Rich takes on South Warren and Colby Downing. It’s a game worthy if a state tournament semi final.
In Region 4 boys action, Monroe Co. And Dillon Geralds begins it’s quest for the schools first ever regional crown. They play Russellville.
And in my old neck of the woods, the 3rd Region will host six games at the Owensboro Sportscenter, 2 girls, 4 boys. The day starts with a rematch of the past 2 girls finals with the Meade County Lady Waves led by Lipscomb signee Morgan Turner taking on Owensboro Catholic led by Bellarmine commit, Makayla Berry. It’s a budding rivalry that is worth the early morning trek.
Wherever you are, if you’re in the state of Kentucky today, don’t miss the chance to follow the action as teams vie to compete in what I believe is the greatest sporting eventing the nation at the high school level, The Sweet Sixteen Kentucky State Basketball Tournament.
