A famous philosopher once said something to the effect of, “an onion has many layers.”
And, for the past thirty-one years nothing has left Big Blue Nation crying much more than the swampy onion that is Florida.
From Kerwin to Emmitt to Wuerffel to Tebow….all those layers….uncovered receivers, late-game collapses, zeroes on the play clock…the layers seemed infinite.
Then came last night, at the Swamp of all places. The end of the onion seemed oh so near. But, a late touchdown came, and I expected it; you expected it too…we all did.
But it didn’t….it didn’t….it did not!
We won…Big Blue Nation has seen the final layer.
It’s over, and this could be the final layer of a much larger onion. Culture change takes time, and the culture can’t truly change until all the demons have been banished, and this is it.
Big Blue Nation is riding high today. The expectations are different. The paradigm has shifted. The onion no longer brings us tears.
